Empresários cordobeses apresentaram seus produtos na África do Sul

Between 4th and 8th July, VALOR A, PROTEINAS ARGENTINAS S.A. and ARG DE GRAAF/MANIAGRO participated in the Multisectoral Trade Mission to South Africa, which was organized by ProCórdoba Agency together with the Argentine Embassy in that country.

Within this framework, the delegation held business meetings with import companies that belong to their respective productive sectors in the cities of Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town. Regarding this, it is important to highlight the joint work between the delegation and the Embassy’s authorities to achieve optimal agendas oriented to make progress towards achieving the presence of the Argentine products in such a market.

About the country’s potential and the future prospects, some of the businessmen who made up the delegation said the following.

 

Diego Bracco from ARG DE GRAAF / MANIAGRO:


"South Africa, as a destination, is very important for peanut because even though South Africa is producer, due to weather conditions it is producing less. However, with a growing demand, there are opportunities to increase volumes and sales. Peanut consumption is very important as a product in itself and as peanut paste.


Customs barrier is high to export peanut paste. It is not an optimal product to enter the market because the company’s prospective clients are producers of peanut paste. Africa and Latin America are expected to be destinations for investment and growth, with business opportunities. In the case of Africa, there is knowledge on the product and on its Argentine origin and high quality. The importers want long-term sustainable and reliable suppliers, i.e. quality suppliers. These are the requirements met by Argentine companies to meet a growing demand and consumption.”


Julián Zárate from PROTEINAS ARGENTINAS S.A.:


"The textured soy protein in South Africa has an enormous development, with the typical vagaries of economy (high and low levels of consumption). However, since it is aimed at a large sector of the population -popular and with high purchasing power- it remains constant. The market is very important. We've been present intermittently since 2010. The level of companies is excellent; they are very professionals and very good payers, with highly concentrated distribution channels. In the case of our sector, it is very recommendable.


For Argentina, this represents an enormous potential. It always depends on the exchange rate with regard to the dollar, not only in our country but also in Brazil, our competitor. It is a country with a high level of technology, high consumption and very professional entrepreneurs. The contact is from owner to owner, i.e. all the industry players are known that is why it is important to be well-known. The market has its peculiarities and important cities. It is important to travel and make personal contacts because it is the type of relationships South African people are accustomed to. It has to be done.”
