Córdoba’s Aerospace Companies Showcase their Potential

  • The Aerospace Roundtable and Networking event was organized by ProCórdoba and Ascentio.
  • Representatives of both the U.S. Embassy in Argentina and Axiom Space, interested in the tech developments of the aerospace sector in Córdoba, participated in the event. Representatives of the Argentine Aerospace and Aeronautical Chamber (CArAe), the National Institute of Industrial Technology (INTI), and the Córdoba Chamber of Foreign Trade were also present.
  • Participants on the occasion included Ascentio Technologies and DTA S.A.

The activity was held during the II Aerospace Roundtable organized by ProCórdoba's Export Intelligence service. This time, a networking space was also part of the agenda.

Activities began with a guided tour during morning around the facilities of CONAE and VENG, where visitors saw, first-hand, the technological developments applied to satellite building, their placement in orbit, and the downloading of data conducted by both state agencies.
The latter has any number of applications, from the identification of geographical and weather variables or the detection of illegal fishing in national maritime borders and of oil spills in the seas, to the forecasting of natural disasters such as Spain-ravaging DANA.

In the afternoon, the entourage moved to the facilities of Ascentio Technologies, where ProCórdoba presented the productive and services profile of the province, with special emphasis on the performance of the aerospace sector and the space industry.
ProCórdoba explained that Córdoba has an organized ecosystem, where universities, public applied research institutes, chambers, and clusters work with the State to generate institutional conditions, develop quality human resources committed to innovation, and enable certification and control processes for companies to develop their full potential and meet the requirements to internationalize their products.

Scott Flukinger, Argentina Country Manager of Axiom Space from Houston, Texas presented the firm's activities and its interest in the provincial aerospace businesses.

The firm has an exclusive agreement with NASA for the construction of the Axiom station to replace the International Space Station (ISS).
Also in partnership with NASA, Axiom Space has conducted the first private astronaut missions to the ISS and is building the spacesuits for the next human mission to the moon, Artemis III.

It is worth noting that the company also has agreements in place with governments such as that of Italy for the provision of goods and services to expand their activities.

On November 4, Axiom Space signed a letter of intent with CONAE authorities for future joint initiatives.
The local companies offered visitors a brief presentation on their work, and then held individual meetings (splinter meetings) with the representative from the US company.

On the other hand, Aaron Tiffany, Environment, Science and Technology Officer, and Cameron Glendenning, Assistant Military Attaché of the Office of Defense, both from the US Embassy in Buenos Aires, highlighted the potential for trade between their country and Córdoba's companies beyond this sector, and promised to generate business contacts to replicate these efforts with other industries.
