
For the first time, the Government of the Province of Córdoba - through the Córdoba Culture Agency and ProCórdoba Agency, and with the support of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Argentina - is actively participating in the organization of "Córdoba Celebrates the Chinese New Year," working hand in hand with the Confucius Institute, universities, business chambers and the local Chinese community. The event will take place on February 22 and 23 at Parque de las Tejas from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
The Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is one of the most important festivities of the Chinese calendar and, for the first time, Córdoba will take point in a celebration full of color, music, culture, and tradition. The open, free event will be attended by provincial authorities and prominent figures of the Chinese community in Argentina..
For two days, the public will be able to enjoy artistic performances, including traditional dances such as the Dragon and Lion Dance, martial arts demonstrations, traditional music, and fusion music shows. There will also be cultural workshops on Chinese language, calligraphy, Tai Chi, Chinese philosophy and more. In addition, there will be talks, debates, and presentations on the bilateral relationship between Córdoba and China in a space called "China's in Córdoba's mind."
Food will also play a predominant role, with typical Chinese dishes and fusions with local flavors in the "Flavors of the East" sector. Cultural products, handicrafts, and decorations will be available for purchase in the "Dragon Market." On the other hand, there will be a Chinese film series with screenings of classic and contemporary films, as well ass interactive spaces where visitors will be able to check Chinese horoscope predictions, participate in a tea ceremony, and get temporary Chinese character tattoos.
So much more than a cultural event
"Córdoba Celebrates the Chinese New Year" is more than a cultural event. It constitutes an opportunity to strengthen economic and cooperation ties between Córdoba and the People's Republic of China. To that end, there will be an institutional space where the province will highlight bilateral trade and investment opportunities.
The Chinese New Year is a festivity celebrated in the main capitals of the world, from New York to London, and now Córdoba joins this outstanding international tradition.
