- GSMA Mobile World Congress is the world's most important annual event for the mobile and global communications industry.
- The 2024 edition was held in Spain on February 26-29.
- The Government of the Province of Córdoba supported the participation of 30 technology companies with an institutional Meeting Point.
ProCórdoba Agency coordinated the participation of 30 technology companies from all over the province in the GSMA Mobile World Congress (MWC). Thus, the Government continues to position Córdoba globally in the field of technological development and to support the province's companies in this important fair, which allows them to keep abreast of the latest trends in the sector and to generate business relations with potential customers.
At the 2024 MWC event, the provincial firms had an institutional stand that worked as a Meeting Point, coordinated by ProCórdoba with the support of the Central Argentina Chamber of Informatics, Electronics and Communications Industries (CIIECCA), the Córdoba Technology Cluster, the Villa María Technology Drive Cluster, the San Francisco Technology Cluster, and the Río Cuarto Technology Cluster.
ProCórdoba's president Pablo De Chiara headed the mission. During the activities in Barcelona, he explained, "It is not just about companies being able to visit the fair, but it is key that they have a space to carry out their meetings and establish partnerships with new clients and suppliers. With this Meeting Point of the Government of Córdoba and technology clusters, we are hoping to further develop the technological ecosystem throughout the province."
De Chiara held meetings with various state and private institutions in Spain. Two outstanding outcomes of the work were that he signed an agreement with the Argentine-Spanish Association of Entrepreneurs, Executives and Businesspersons, and held a meeting with Javier Serra, General Director of Institutional Cooperation and Coordination of ICEX Spain Export and Investment, a national public business entity whose mission is to promote the internationalization of Spanish companies and foreign investment. The meeting sought to strengthen the relationship between the two institutions.
On the other hand, the delegation from Córdoba visited the Argentine Consulate in Barcelona, which organized a business networking event with the Argentine technological hub in Barcelona and local companies. The purpose of the meeting was to connect Argentine businessmen from different provinces with one another and with Spanish institutions and businesspersons. The Consul General of Argentina in Barcelona, Rossana Surballe, praised the participation of Córdoba, the only province exhibiting at the Mobile World Congress. The Chargé d'Affaires of Argentina in Spain, Roberto Bosch Estevez, shared that during his administration the plan will be to promote business between both countries, based on three pillars: mutual support between institutions, public-private engagement, and international cooperation.
Takeaways
Kunan's Daniel Ibañez said, "Last year we were already here with ProCórdoba and now again the result has been very effective and enriching. We had important meetings with Spanish and some European companies with which we have identified needs that we can cover and also the possibility of establishing two-way partnerships."
For his part, Texdinamo's Maximiliano Gaviglio explained, "Being present and being able to connect directly with different market players truly makes a difference. Just being here, being seen, allows us to build trust, which is the basis on which we can seize future opportunities."
Dreemology's Ariel Diaz, on the other hand, commented, "It is the first time that we've come here, and I can say that the effort's been very much worth it. We'll go back home with new prospects thanks to the possibility of having a local partner here. I also want to acknowledge the networking opportunity among the companies from Córdoba: in many cases we did not know each other, so it brought a lot of value."
Simon Costantino of Dick Costantino S.A. also expounded on their experience: "Participating has allowed us to reach potential customers that otherwise would have been impossible, given that our company is in the interior of the province. Here, we have been able to visit clients directly and meet decision-makers who are looking for services that we can offer."
Further, Marcelo Paris of Holon Software underscored, "Participating in these international fairs with ProCórdoba always helps us to validate our value proposition and adapt it to the target markets, which entails technological improvements and development of new products."
Finally, Carina Campo, from the Córdoba Technology Cluster, said, "For the companies of the Cluster it was a wise decision to be here because it allows us to validate the direction we're taking regarding technological trends and also to gain visibility as exporters."
The case of Suga stands out in particular, since it was the only company from Córdoba that participated with its own stand in 4YFN, the part of the fair dedicated to startups. Its representatives, Pablo Garriga, Soledad Vanzan and Roman Sarria, pointed out, "Last year we visited a stand with the Government's mission and we were pleasantly surprised by the event. We came with the aim of showing what Córdoba has to offer to the world, to get new clients and open up new markets. We are very proud to be in one of the largest technology fairs in the world and to bring our products and financial solutions.".
