Córdoba’s Video Games Industry Brings Home Foreign Companies for Business Rounds

  • The business rounds took place at GameBiz 2024.
  • Participants included 30 companies from Córdoba and six from the U.S.
  • Over 115 business meetings were held.

ProCórdoba Agency and the Argentine Association of Video Game Developers (ADVA), with the support of the Federal Investment Council, organized a new edition of GAMEBIZ, one of the leading local events in the video game sector, which brings together strategic players in the industry: developers, publishers, creators, programmers, storytellers, consultants and project managers.

The event's goal is to establish and strengthen business relationships and explore new business opportunities in the video game industry. International visitors seek to identify potential business partners, learn about the local video game offer, generate lasting relationships, and exchange knowledge and experiences with local companies and developers to expand their reach in the global market.

On this occasion, Córdoba welcomed representatives from six American firms and one Argentine company (Buenos Aires), who visited Pizia, 3OGS and Ravegan, three renowned local video game firms. The business rounds involved thirty local companies and 115 meetings.

In the visitors' words

Brooke Van Duse from CDR External Development, a California company that helps video game studios find partners for their developments, said, "I'm super excited to finally be in Córdoba. I've been working with companies here for a long time, such as 3OGS and Ravegan. It's wonderful to see them in person, to see how their offices are. But most of all, it's amazing to see the games industry in Córdoba. It has a lot of potential. Its time zone overlap with the United States is perfect, the people of Córdoba understand our culture, and everyone's super friendly and easy to get along with. I'm excited to continue to both deepen my relationships with my partners and find new partners."

On the other hand, Margarita Pino Yancovic from Powell Group Consulting (U. S.), expressed, "I have found the games very entertaining and interesting. Many attractive opportunities have opened up in the business meetings. It would be our first time working with companies from Córdoba. The price-quality ratio of the games developed here is very good and the people from Córdoba are very friendly. Besides, the diversity of views, the cultural contribution that Latin American companies can offer, is very rich."

The impact of the event

Gamebiz Córdoba is a meeting place for publishers, developers, freelancers and students from the province of Córdoba. It offers a space to make visible the globally-relevant local talent of this increasingly growing and on-demand industry. It includes presentations and talks by foreign and national entrepreneurs, but it is strategically aimed at business development, offering Córdoba's companies, service providers and professionals of the sector the opportunity to reach relevant international actors in the industry. The event has proven successful time and again: since its first edition in 2014, Córdoba has seen the creation of more than 15 video game development studios and 400 local talents have joined the industry.
